About the Authors…
Elizabeth Smith, who goes by Libby, lives in Parkville, Maryland with her husband Dennis. She enjoys writing children’s stories, senior jokes, articles and essays, and has three children and two grandchildren. Her hobbies include, reading, writing, baking, walking, swimming, and listening to a variety of music. Among her favorite authors are; Jan Karon, Adriana Trigiani, Max Lucado, and the late, Erma Bomback. While growing up in the country, a treasured time during the summer was hiking to the nearby bookmobile.
“I have fond memories of walking inside and smelling the fragrance of the books and slowly feeling the crinkly plastic covers like they were gold,” said Libby. “It was intoxicating.” Libby also enjoyed teaching Faith Formation to school children, working for a pediatrician and helping kids as a paraeducator. Eventually, she was inspired to write a middle grade novel, TWIN STROKES, which is about a young girl stricken with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. A few years later, after reading an article about her great-grandfather, it became her mission to write the book, THE COIN FLIP, which is about trust in God for our plan and purpose in life. “I feel the Holy Spirit was my co-author in both works,” added Libby.
Lois Berk (pen name Lola B) is another author. She writes a Botany Book series. ‘Lola B’ graduated from Towson University in Maryland where she studied Laboratory Medicine, Biology and Chemistry. She has retired after 42 years from a hospital laboratory department and now works parttime with preschoolers. Her interest in Botany and gardening led her to later study Sustainable Horticulture. Having raised two children and now a grandmother, Lola B treasures the intimate moments shared when reading to children. She hopes that her stories will engage preschoolers and early readers, encouraging them to enjoy the plant world as she does, and initiating an understanding of how natural systems work together. In her free time, Lola B enjoys her home and community gardens as well as reading and traveling.
Jeff Huster is the author of “From Homeless to Hopeful”. Jeff is a loving son and father of three beautiful children. He is an accomplished songwriter and musician and now author. Jeff volunteers his time at Voices of Hope, a non-profit organization that helps the less fortunate and spreads the message of recovery and well-being. He wrote this book of poems on addiction and recovery in hopes it will reach families and their loved ones who struggle with the disease of addiction.
