In cooperation with the Cecil County Arts Council, a new orchestra was formed in January 2019 that will service Cecil, Harford, and Kent Counties, Maryland and bordering Pennsylvania/Delaware regions. The Northern Chesapeake Symphony Orchestra is currently accepting member applications. The mission of the orchestra is to provide a full symphony orchestra (strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion) experience for middle school students through adults from Cecil County, Maryland and surrounding areas that will perform programs within the community.

After Submission:
Once the application is reviewed and your membership request verified with your private teacher and/or director, you will receive a call or e-mail to confirm your membership.
NCSO Director
Dr. Nelson Fritts has been an Arts Educator for 47 years. Prior to retiring in 2014 as Coordinator for Fine Arts in Cecil County, he was previously Supervisor in Allegany County and music teacher in both Hampshire County, WV, and Anne Arundel County, MD. He served as State Supervisor Representative for the Maryland Music Educators (MMEA) Executive Board; the State Superintendent’s Fine Arts Advisory Panel; and Arts Education in Maryland Schools’ HEAT Taskforce. He received awards from numerous state agencies including the MMEA “Corwin Taylor Music Education Leadership Award”. He now serves as Director of the NCSO and the Delaware Saengerbund.
