My name is Dick Blystone, I live in Elkton Maryland, I write computer software for a living, and for the last 10 years or so, I have been spending my free time on a personal photographic journey, in pursuit of creating images I feel are worth sharing with others. My primary subjects are those found in nature, from foxes to flowers, from butterflies to bald eagles. Most of my photography is done locally or while on vacation, and usually with my favorite photography companion, my daughter.
The challenges associated with producing worthwhile images of things found in nature drive me to practice the craft of photography. Finding and photographing very small things, discovering unique perspectives to turn the ordinary into the artistic, waiting for hours on end in extreme weather to capture a single moment of nature that may present itself without warning, these things push me to improve, and inspire me to get outside and find new subjects to shoot. After a days shooting, I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of reviewing all the images in order to discover and eventually post-process just a handful that will hopefully end up being good enough to be published for others to enjoy.
Along the way, I’ve made new friends, explored new places, learned a lot about nature, and even a little about myself. Its been quite a pleasant journey, and the journey continues. If you’d like to see some of the pictures I’ve taken over the years, you can visit the links above.
